When to Travel to Northern Pantanal

Ever wondered when best to visit the Northern Pantanal? Or when to see the Pink Trumpet Tree flowery? How about the best time to see jaguars hunting? Or the best time to see the endemic bird species? We’ve compiled the calendar below as a guide on when best to visit Pantanal and the best time to do each tour. These are the best times to travel – so you need to plan your trip accordingly and book well in advance to ensure availability at the best hotels and lodges.

Of course the best time to visit will depend on your individual tastes and interests. For instance, you might prefer cool temperatures and log fires to the hot summer sun. Or you might be more interested in bird watching than seeing the Jaguars. Peak season often means higher prices and larger crowds – for these reasons, many people prefer travelling in the quieter months. This calendar is intended as a guideline only and shows our favorite times of the year to visit. Get free, no-obligation advice from us and let’s start planning your wildest Pantanal adventure.

Pantanal Jaguar Safari

The Pantanal is considered the sixth largestfloodplain in the world with 180,000 square kilometers and 80% located in the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do sul.

The Pantanal has a seasonal fluctuation of water providing an abundance of life and rich fauna with 656 bird species, 269 fish species, and 236 mammals species such as ocelots, giant otters, tapirs and jaguars. The Pantanal is one of the best places in South America for wildlife safaris and the only place in the world you can photograph wild jaguars.

In the Pantanal the connections between water and natural phenomena can be observed on different levels. Year after year, rains sculpt the region’s map. The Pantanal is characterized by strong, cyclical, yearly floods, which brings water and nutrients to a variety of different ecosystems.

The Fauna and Flora of the Pantanal are influenced by the surrounding formations of Cerrado, Chaco, Amazon Rainforest, and Atlantic Forest. Thus, containing both essentially forest-based and open area elements with the biota that resembles that of the Cerrado, the Pantanal’s prevailing vegetation type.

We are located in the northern Pantanal region of Mato Grosso and focus our tours in the State Park Meeting of the Water. The Park is 108,000 hectares and is thought to have the highest concentration of animals per square kilometer in the Americas becoming one of the best places in the world for ecotourism with its main attraction being jaguars and giant otters.

Your Northern Pantanal dream trip is waiting for you!
